“Are you sure you want to buy one?” Susan asked.
“I have to buy one if I am going to open a saloon,” I replied. “You know the clientele we receive aren’t all bankers and ranchers. We need some sort of security, you more than me.”
“I know how to look after myself.”
How does one approach a snake? I wondered this as my friend, Fox, dug in the sand around the panicked head. A sun-burnt prisoner left to rot in the deserts or, as was the case now, be swarmed by the bright green snakes. These beautiful creatures, although small, were a great threat and I stood between one and my friend.
“Can you hand me those nails?” Louis asked.
Catherine took a handful out of the bucket and placed it in his open hand so he could resume his hammering. The windows were just about secure, but it was made difficult work thanks to the sun. It had to be now of all times for the heatwave to strike.
The fierceness of these creatures was is known throughout the forest. A mixed breed of corrupted man and elf, creatures born of horror and torment. Elves that have long since lost the power of reason, instead relying on their own lust for power and sheer will to spread suffering. These are Blood Elves and they should be removed from this plane of existence.
I flattened myself on the ground, feeling the blades of grass curl around my arms and legs. It was unpleasant at first, but I had to do what my father told me. I quickly grew used to it, the dirt on my clothing, the discomfort of small rocks. However, it was necessary to ensure we weren’t seen.
