Doctor Jackson snorted loudly as he woke up. The chair wobbled beneath him, but he quickly caught himself. Grasping the desk with a tired mind begging to know what was happening. Eventually, the mental wires connected and the engines started. Somebody was knocking at his door.
“Come on, come on, come on!” Lionel yelled as he turned the key.
The car was struggling. Spluttering and grinding itself in response, but no satisfactory answer as given. Eventually, it was fortune that favoured Lionel as he smashed his fist against the dashboard, forcing a wire into the right place. The car roared to life.
“The bait is one thing that will help get a bite,” my father murmured. “However, it is the lure that attracts them. That is fishing in a nutshell. Bait helps, but a great lure is a must.”
“Yeah, I understand that,” I replied. “But you know what would be a great, if we could use those special sound effects that attract fish.”
The morning was a dark, filled with grey clouds and cold weather. Despite this I still managed to struggle out of bed. There is one thing I never understood about my family is that they always seem to sleep in a lot longer than me. Of course, it comes down to how much work that needs to be done. In my case, it was plenty.
“How has it been?” the handler asked.
“Let’s skip that bit and get to the part where I tell you what’s happening,” I murmured. “I have become a part of Chen’s loyal bodyguards. I’m on shaky ground there, but give it time. We will be making this deal at a meeting point that Chen and his brother decided. We will stay there until everything is sorted out, but knowing Chen’s style that could take some time.”
