My name is Matthew Dewey...
I am a writer and writing instructor.
As of this day, January 2020, I am 21 years old.
It is hard for me to pin down exactly when I showed an interest in writing, but certainly early in my primary school years I began reading as much as I could. Enjoying various stories, but most of them were fantasy novels. Nothing seemed to get the creative mind buzzing quite as much as fantasy.
Nearing the end of my education I decided to write my first novel, but it was never something I planned. I considered it, certainly, just like everyone, but what got me into writing was a two week holiday before my final exams. I decided to use a bulk of that time writing the first draft to my first novel and from there, I was hooked.
I finished my first novel and went on to write more and more. Eventually, I created this blog where I challenged myself to write a story every day. So, that is what I did. From 24th of October 2018 I wrote a story every day until I had 300-odd stories.
Through making a habit of writing I realized I was doing what so many young writers struggle to do; make a habit of writing. With that, I found the solutions to many problems that all beginner writers encounter. The answer was clear to me from that point, so I began teaching writing to all young writers and beginners.
In addition to this, I provided more tutorials and courses, providing information on other important activities that occupy my life; programming and art. While these course have been appreciated and amassed tens-of-thousands of students, writing will always be the focus of my attention.
The courses and advice I give help anyone wishes to finish their novel or improve their writing style. If that interests you, I recommend taking my free course or joining my Writer's group.
As far as awards go I enjoy doing the NaNo WriMo and have finished the challenge four years in a row (2016 to 2019).
