Murder Mystery Manor

It was the most popular game-show in these violent times. It was known as Murder Mystery Manor and the stakes were very real even if the viewers didn’t realize that. The contestant lived in a town of psychopaths and their job was to find out who killed John Doe. In order to win they needed to bring evidence and a name to the hostess, Madame Rose. To complete their investigation they needed to put themselves in harm’s way, inside the manor. Once outside they were safe, if they could make it.

The show was doing fantastic in ratings which helped making for making those pay-offs to keep the show from being investigated. Of course, the show would have never lasted so longer unless there was a winner. On the fourth season there was a woman who fought like her life depended on it. It was almost as if she knew it did. Her first day should have given the psychopaths of the town a clue.
In the first episode the thirteen contestants enter the lobby of the manor and meet the suspects. There were ten psychopaths who lived on the manor grounds, each with their own secret and deadly desire, but only one was pinned as the killer. While twelve of the contestants remained in the lobby questioning the suspects casually in the dinner party, this Liz woman had the audacity to sneak out during the party and investigate the manor. By the time the camera crew realized that one of the contestants was missing at the end of the party she walked out back into the open, following the rest of the contestants back to their homes in town.
Madame Rose was informed immediately of course and with her typical charm she told the viewers how one contestant was a step ahead of everyone else although she wouldn’t reveal what she discovered in the manor. Madame Rose knew that if she was snooping around she didn’t find enough evidence to pin it on anyone. A shame indeed, Rose was hoping she would have found a red herring, brought it in and be executed for false accusation. More is the pity, Rose and her band of psychopaths would not catch Liz so easily throughout the season.
The next few episodes went according to plan; a contestant tried their luck, breaking into the manor in broad daylight. Rose had to commend the bravery as well as ingenuity. Of course, it went as well as to be expected, one of Rose’s darling psychopaths was in the room at the time and caught the intruder. Needless to say the hidden camera cut off and the ‘Butchered’ sting played as the fool was indeed butchered heavily.
The same formula repeated each episode a contestant tried at night or day only to be butchered in the terrible ways. Finally, there were only five contestants left, Rose growing madly happy with each death, cackling in some of talks with the viewers. It only enhanced the experience and views continued to grow wonderfully.
However, the next episode was a strange one. For the first time, Liz attempted the manor. Unlike the others she was a lot more careful and a lot slower. The psychopaths had no clue that she had broken in and strangely enough, she wasn’t searching for evidence or papers. She was hunting. Liz had hidden from cameras, finding a spot out of sight and she waited the entire night. Everyone believed she chickened out, leaving the manor the same way, but when Rose checked the cameras in the morning she saw a corpse. Rose quickly cut to the ‘Butchered’ sting and laughed into the microphone, but it was only half-hearted.
When the other psychopaths entered the room to clean up the body they turned it over to realize it was one of their fellow killers. Rose was immediately informed and she began flicked through cameras quickly, searching for Liz, but it was too late. Liz was climbing out of the window with files under her arm, wearing one of the psychopath’s dresses as a disguise. The plan was tactical and brave. Rose and the psychopaths knew that they were not dealing with a typical piece of prey, but rather another predator like them. The death of their colleague only had a positive affect for Liz.
The psychopaths would not go to sleep anymore. Each and everyone would guard their piece of evidence, but it was only foolish. Each one grew more tired and when it seemed to be reaching its peak, Liz struck again and far more violent than before. Two more killers had met the same fate as their victims which only brought fear. Suddenly the intelligent control Rose had of the mentally unsound vanished and they became erratic and sickening in their search. The show grew more terrifying, but this helped ratings. The people at home were gripped.
Of course, nobody saw Liz commit these acts, she was far too careful. Episodes drew closer to the end of the season, the remainder of the contestants tried their luck, but with every psycho on alert they didn’t stand a chance. Soon it was only Liz against a total of three psychopaths. One decided to leave the manor and move towards her home in town. Of course, Rose didn’t show this to the people. It broke the rules and the people would be in a uproar. The psychopath did not return and a second committed suicide, leaving only one. There was no game anymore to him, but it didn’t matter.
One psychopath could not stop her, Liz walked out of the front door while he searched rooms for her. She presented all the evidence and named the killer in front of the hostess. Rose showed the evidence, read it and eventually the harshness hit her. Liz had discovered the killer a long time ago and purposefully left him alive till the end to be executed. The psychopath was dragged off to a guillotine and he yelled his fury at Liz as the blade dropped, she only stared coldly, the first winner of Murder Mystery Manor.
